Mrs Diana Porter presented with the British Empire Medal in the Tithe Barn

Mrs Diana Porter, Chairman of the North Cotswold branch of the Royal National Lifeboat Institution, was awarded the British Empire Medal by Dame Janet Trotter, Lord Lieutenant of Gloucestershire, for her work with the charity over the past 47 years.

Mrs Porter chose The Tithe Barn at Bourton House Garden as the venue for her presentation as she loves the building and the garden and ‘couldn’t think of anywhere nicer’ for this very special event. Sixty of Mrs Porter’s friends, family and fellow volunteers turned out to celebrate her honour for 47 years of service to the RNLI and to Maritime Safety. The owners and staff of Bourton House Garden are delighted to offer their own congratulations to an amazing lady.
